How to look after your jewelry

Instants Plaisirs reveals some maintenance tips and tricks to care for your little jewels so that they stand the test of time ♡

3 different materials are available on our site:

Highlights: Whatever the material, all our jewels are freshwater-resistant.

Our little jewels are designed to follow you in your daily life, and are often worn in accumulation. Sometimes abused during the day, they need rest and pampering, just like we do. Here's a quick care summary:

  • In the morning, Adorn yourself with your jewelry after your beauty routine (avoiding contact with perfume/cosmetics).
  • During the day, remove them before any physical activity, swimming or household chores and store them in your own pouch or case Instants Plaisirs.
  • In the evening, clean them carefully with a soft cloth or chamois before leaving them to rest in your own individual pouch or case Instants Plaisirs.

When traveling, we recommend that you separate your jewelry into several pouches or cases to prevent them from damaging each other.

If, despite these precautions, your jewels begin to tarnish or leave black marks on your skin, a more thorough cleaning is necessary:
Fill a bowl with lukewarm water and Marseille soap, immerse your jewelry in it and gently clean it with a soft bristle brush or soft cloth, depending on the fineness of the jewelry. Rinse with clear water and dry with a soft, clean, dry cloth.

Caring for gold-plated jewelry

Caring for gold-plated jewelry

What is gold-plated jewelry?

Gold-plated jewelry is jewelry made of metal (e.g. brass) covered with gold plating. All our gold-plated jewelry features 3-micron 18-carat plating. This type of plating is necessary to obtain the "gold-plated" appellation in France. Less expensive than gold jewelry, but with a beautiful golden sheen and long-lasting quality, gold-plated jewelry has an important place in our jewelry boxes, and it's for all these reasons that we like to offer it to you on the site.

How to care for and clean gold-plated jewelry?

Gold-plated jewelry, like silver, can tarnish over time. Several elements can affect its evolution over the years. To prolong their shine as long as possible, we advise you to remove your gold-plated jewelry when going to the beach or sea, to avoid exposure to cosmetics (perfume, creams...) and to remove it for household chores and sports.

To clean your gold-plated jewelry and restore its shine, nothing could be simpler: choose a soft cloth (or chamois) and add soapy water to gently clean it. Dry gently with a clean, dry cloth.

When you're not wearing your jewelry, store it in its case or pouch, away from light and dry.

What is 925 silver jewelry?

925 silver jewelry is jewelry made to the 925/1000th standard. This means that at least 92.5% of this jewelry is pure silver. Other metals, such as copper, are used in the composition to ensure that it can be worked and maintains a certain hardness.

Please note that much of our silver jewelry is rhodium-plated. An extra layer of Rhodium metal is added to protect them.

How to care for and clean silver jewelry?

This precious metal naturally tarnishes and blackens over time in contact with air and humidity. Several factors can influence the way a piece of silver jewelry develops over the years. In particular, the acidity of the skin, which is different and specific to each individual. To slow down oxidation, we recommend that you remove your silver jewelry when swimming in the sea or pool, or when doing household chores or sports. We also recommend avoiding contact with cosmetics such as perfume.

No need to worry! To clean your silver jewelry, use a soft cloth such as chamois. Then gently rub your jewel. For a more thorough cleaning, there are specific products on the market, such as baths and cleaning kits.

Finally, keep your jewelry dry, in its case, away from light, when you're not wearing it.
